One of the most important job-creating tools in our country today is investment in clean energy economy. In June 2009, the United States House of Representatives took an historic step by passing the American Clean Energy and Security Act (ACES). Now, it’s time for the U.S. Senate to take action to build a better future for our families and communities.
The passage of comprehensive climate legislation would enable new technologies to be developed in renewable energy sources such as wind, solar and biomass. The new technologies would bring needed jobs to areas hit hard by the recent down turn in our economy. These are jobs that would put hard working men and women back to work in labs creating new technologies; in plants producing component parts; on the streets building the infrastructure needed to support the work; and in classrooms teaching new skills and building on what we know.
Please take this resolution to your meetings and union halls over the coming months, present this resolution for passage, and urge your brothers and sisters to support passing comprehensive clean energy and climate change legislation. This is our future — and we need to pass legislation that preserves and creates millions of good, clean energy jobs across the United States of America.
